What you're looking at

Today's concept looks like someone captured flowing water and turned it to obsidian.

A sculptural vase in deep black with flowing, organic wave forms. The surface features layered striations that resemble geological strata or marble veining—each curve suggesting movement frozen in time. The silhouette flares at the top and tapers toward an asymmetrical base.

How Its Made

How it could be made

Two paths here. Traditional: CNC-carved from a solid block of nero marquina or black Belgian marble, then hand-polished to bring out the natural veining. The complex curves would require 5-axis milling. Modern alternative: 3D printed in high-resolution black resin, finished with a marble-effect coating and clear seal for durability. The resin route allows for thinner walls and more dramatic undercuts.

Reality or Fiction?

Could this actually be manufactured?

Yes. The organic form is complex but achievable. Marble carving would run $3,000–$8,000 depending on size and detail—you're paying for material waste and machine time. Resin printing brings it down to $800–$2,000 with faster turnaround. Either way, you'd have a statement piece.
