What you're looking at
Today's concept: a marble vase that looks like it's in motion.

A spiral-fluted amphora carved from travertine marble. The deep grooves twist around the bulbous body, creating shadows that shift as light moves across the room. Monochromatic beige finish lets the natural stone veining do the talking.
How Its Made
How it could be made
The form would be CNC-carved from a solid block of travertine or similar cream marble. The spiral fluting requires precise 5-axis machining to achieve consistent depth and smooth transitions. After rough carving, hand-finishing with progressively finer grits would bring out the stone's natural luster. The narrow neck is the trickiest part—requires careful material selection to avoid fractures along the grain.
Reality or Fiction?
Could this actually be manufactured?
Yes. This is well within the capabilities of modern stone fabrication. The monochromatic design and single-material construction simplify production compared to multi-material pieces. Estimated cost: $800–$2,500 depending on marble quality and size. A composite resin version could bring this down to $200–$400.
